Terms of Service
Last updated 18 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and APIGate ("we", "us") about your use of APIGate, the website and the service behind it. By creating an account or using APIGate you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use APIGate.
1. What APIGate is
APIGate sits between your software and the AI providers you choose (for example OpenAI, Anthropic or Google). You give APIGate your own key for each provider. Your software then calls APIGate instead of the provider, and APIGate forwards the call, returns the provider's answer, and records the usage and an estimated cost so you can see what you spend. APIGate is not an AI provider and does not create the answers.
2. Your account
- You must give correct details and keep your login and your APIGate keys secret. You are responsible for everything done with your account and your keys.
- Tell us at once if you think your account or a key has been misused. You can regenerate or revoke a key at any time on the Projects page.
- You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, and if you use APIGate for an organisation you confirm you may bind it.
3. Your provider keys and provider accounts
- You must have the right to use every provider key you add, and you must follow each provider's own terms. APIGate acts on your instruction and with your key.
- Your provider keys are stored encrypted and used only to forward your own calls. We do not read or store the content of your requests or of the answers; see the Privacy Policy.
- The provider charges you directly for what you use. We are not a party to that agreement and are not responsible for the provider's prices, availability, answers or invoices.
4. Plans, limits and prices
- Each plan has limits (for example projects, keys per project, requests per month and streaming minutes). They are shown on the Pricing page. A call over a limit is refused with a message saying so.
- We may change plans, limits and prices. Where a change makes your plan worse or more expensive we will tell you before it applies to you.
- Where a plan has a fee, the fee and how it is paid are shown when you choose the plan.
5. Cost figures are estimates
APIGate works out cost from the usage numbers in the provider's reply and the provider's published prices. We work hard to keep this right, and we check it automatically, but the figures can differ from the provider's invoice (for example when a provider changes a price, adds a new kind of charge, or reports usage in a way we do not yet read). The provider's invoice is always the authoritative amount. Do not rely on APIGate alone for billing, accounting or tax.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, or use APIGate to send content or make requests that the provider or the law forbids;
- attack, overload or probe APIGate or other people's systems, or try to get around the limits, key locks or protections;
- point a provider address at a private or internal network, or at anything that is not a real public service, or use APIGate to reach systems you do not own;
- share or sell access to your account or keys, or resell APIGate as your own service without our written agreement;
- use APIGate in a way that harms other customers or the service.
We may pause a key, or suspend an account, when we see signs of misuse (for example a key that suddenly makes a very large number of calls). We will tell you why where we can.
7. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep APIGate running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. It depends on providers and infrastructure we do not control. We may change, improve or stop features, and will give notice of a change that removes something you rely on where we reasonably can.
8. Ending your use
- You can stop at any time. You can download your data and delete your account on the My account page. Deleting removes your account and its data (copies in backups are removed within 14 days).
- We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the service. We will give notice where we reasonably can.
9. Our responsibility
APIGate is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data, or for charges made by providers, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, to a small fixed sum). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Using APIGate after a change means you accept it.
11. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of the place where APIGate is established, and courts there decide disputes, unless the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be waived. Questions about these terms: see Contact.
